16. CLUB PROGRAMS Chair: Lee Bevill & Tom Steiner The committee is responsible for providing the club with educational, informative, entertaining and fun programs for regular club meetings. The committee schedules community or club guests to speak on topics of interest to the community and in support of Kiwanis activities.

18. HUMAN & SPIRITUAL VALUES Chair: Vicky Rowe The committee should implement projects that support spiritual development, provide human companionship and comfort, or offer guidance and counseling. Projects can encourage interfaith and interdenominational religious activity, but should not support a specific religious sect. Projects may include prayer breakfasts, inspirational or spiritual moments or reflections, visits to nursing homes and support of grief counseling.

20. INTERCLUBS Chair: Sandi Thompson • An interclub is when 4 members visit another Kiwanis Club or Kiwanis Family Club Meeting. • Goal for 2010-2011 • Have 22 interclub visits • Visit each club in our district

21. MEMBERSHIP GROWTH & EDUCATION Chair: Laura Hughes The committee should strive to increase membership according to the standards provided by the by-laws. The committee should develop plans for an active membership recruitment campaign and help in the education and retention of members. The committee should also develop an effective orientation and induction ceremony for new members and promote regular attendance by all club members at club meeting.

22. MILITARY AFFAIRS Chair: Kelli Pendleton The committee is responsible for providing support and activities involving the military and their families. Support includes recognition of military personnel (Soldier of the Quarter/Year, NCO of the Quarter/Year), special speakers, special luncheons, AUSA membership and providing help and assistance with the annual Christmas Party for military children, etc.

24. PUBLIC RELATIONS Chair: Tony Winfield The committee is responsible for helping to ensure that the public receives, through media and other means, the objectives, goals, programs and achievements of Kiwanis International and the club. The committee is responsible for preparing the weekly club bulletin, yearly club brochure, club website and scrapbook.

26. SPONSORED YOUTH COMMITTEE Chair: John Jones The committee shall devise ways and means to establish and support K-Kids, Builders, Key and Circle K clubs. The committee is also responsible for establishing and maintaining Bringing Up Grades (BUG), Terrific Kids, Key Leadership programs and scholarships.

28. WARM THE CHILDREN Chair: Willie Renshaw & Mike Kissner The committee is responsible for coordinating all of the efforts of the annual Warm The Children campaign as well as seeking community and all Kiwanians support and help with this most worthy and special service project.

29. Warm the Children Warm the Children • Take approx. 200 children shopping for warm clothes. • Since 1995, $205,615 has been raised with 2,328 children helped. • Joint effort with the Kentucky New Era and the Salvation Army.

30. YOUTH SERVICES Chair: Marion Adams The committee shall implement and support projects that address school-aged youth. Projects can address academics, advocacy career exploration, character education and citizenship, club activities, health, hobbies, leadership development, literacy, mentoring, prevention of drug abuse, or sports and recreation.

32. YOUNG CHILDREN PRIORITY ONE Chair: Ruth Ann Rettie The committee should implement projects for children, prenatal through age five. Projects can address maternal and child health, childcare, early development, nutrition, parenting education and support, advocacy, pediatric trauma or safety. Popular projects include encouraging literacy, assisting childcare and preschool programs, distributing home-safety checklists, bicycle safety programs and assisting with immunizations.

37. Conventions TheAnnual Kiwanis International Conventionis an excellent event, which allows clubs from around the world to exchange ideas, participate in forums, and share fellowship. TheDistrict Conventionis the kickoff for the new Kiwanis year, which runs from October to September. Club officers and interested members attend. TheDistrict Mid-Year Conferencegives members an opportunity to attend classes and forums about club operation and other exciting topics.

Our Club Awards • Awarded the Salvation Army Bell for collecting the most money during the kettle campaign for the past 10 years vs. the Rotary Club. • The Hixson Award is named in honor of George F. Hixson, the first Kiwanis International President. A $1,000 contribution is made on behalf of the award recipients. • The Kiwanian of the Year Award is presented to honor a member for outstanding service to the club each year.
