Silicon Testing at KSU Sergey Korjenevski Kansas State University 06/18/2002 (11 slides total)
Outline • Prototype Availability • Prototype properties (IV-CV measurements) • QA Procedure • Radiation Test Preparation • Documentation web page • Manpower
Stock • 14 prototypes of L0 delivered by Mike Merkin in February 2002 – 2 at Fermilab in L0 noise testing, 1 at Stony Brook • Names - 234_1d1; 234_11d2; 234_5d1; 234_7d2; 236_1d1; 236_1d2; 236_3d2; 236_3d1; 236_9d1; 236_9d2; 235_1d2 • Two types of silicon • Low depletion 22V • “Higher” depletion 70V • I leak at depletion (from 70 to 340 nA) • Low breakdown (from 260V to 530V) (specifications Vbdn>700V after irradiation)
QA Procedure • Hardware complications • Source of noise – devices cross talk • Possible solutions • Electronics (Improved guard box? Cables?) • Software control (switches?) • Run test all over measuring different elements, i.e. IV separated from CV (Time?) • ELMA DC pads are quite small for I leak measurements • Is it too late to make any adjustments?
Expected Delivery • Last news from Moscow Dima Karmanov is coming on June 27th – July 2nd with 14 improved L0 prototypes He also will bring 4 L1 prototypes • QA data taken at Moscow (Cac, Rpoly, Idiel, CV and IV) will be used for calibration as well. • HPK in four months or so.
Radiation Test • While Dima Karmanov is on his way we plan to begin Engineering Run using stocked detectors. • Run will start next Monday, 6/24/2002 • Details in Tim’s talk of May 22, 2002, D0run2b Silicon meeting
Documentation • The new web site has been setup. It has not been populated yet. Will contain all relevant information on Si Detectors testing at KSU such as equipment, QA documents, test data, pictures, software, links and so on. • Will be finished by the end of the week. http://www.phys.ksu.edu/~skorj/Silicon/
Manpower • SKK • Dima Karmanov • Jesus Hernandez – experienced undergrad, leaving in 3-4 months • MSU REU student Mike Litos, David Minae and Christen Kitten – started training, available for summer, for irradiation test in particular
NOTES • Note on radiation schedule and procedure to be ready by the middle on next week upon engineering run experience • oxygenated? • documentation web page
