Join KSU Water Ski Club founded by Steve McDermeit, offering slalom, trick, and jump events for all skill levels. Have fun skiing, partying, and competing with fellow students. No club dues first semester!

History • Founded almost 30 years ago by Steve McDermeit, who was President of USA Water Ski Association • Have been competing ever since • Always welcome students skilled at water skiing and those less experienced
Events • Slalom • Trick • Jump Mandy Nightingale Freddy Krueger
Slalom • Performed on one ski • Skier negotiates his way around the outside of 6 buoys in a zigzag course • 1 point for each buoy successfully rounded • Athlete who skis around the most buoys and scores the most points, wins
Slalom cont. • Each athlete begins with a 23-meter (75-foot) slalom rope at the minimum boat speed for his age/gender division. • Once an athlete has run enough passes to reach maximum boat speed for his division, the rope is shortened in pre-measured lengths until he misses a buoy or falls.
Trick • Beginners- 2 short skis, no fins • Intermediate to Elite- 1 short ski, no fins • Perform as many tricks as possible during a pass • Athlete earning the most points wins • Full points for 1 ski • Half points for 2 skis wakeboard w/o fins
Jump • Object- Jump as far as you can • 2 - 3 attempts • Collegiate ramp height- 5 feet • Men’s world record- 244 feet

How much does it cost? No club dues your first semester $40 USA Water Ski Membership We split gas to tournaments Bring your own food, buy your own drinks • Dinner Saturday night at tourneys • Club pays for entry fees at Conference and Regionals (perhaps more!!)

What do we do in the spring? • Winter Conference - January or February 2010 Spring tournaments at Iowa and Wisconsin
Practices • Sign up at Monday night meetings • $5-7 dollars a pull- BRING CASH! • Go to Tuttle Creek Marina or driver preference • Definition of a pull- you ski until you just can’t ski anymore! As soon as you get in the boat, your pull is over. • Team has equipment for everyone’s use • Boat etiquette
