  4. Ireland today • A return to old habits. • Irish people are now becoming more ecologically aware. • However, there are still problems.

  6. Waste Disposal Habits • The Irish public are now mostly used to separating their household rubbish into three different bins. • There are tax incentives for this.

  7. Reduce - Reuse - Recycle • In the 2000s people were encouraged by the Government to try and follow the 3 Rs. • - Reduce • - Reuse • - Recycle

  8. WEEE Ireland www.weeeireland.ie • Thanks to legislation, Irish people are now more aware of how to recycle electrical waste.

  9. Water Charges Controversy • Water Services Act 2013. Water Charges being rolled out nationwide in 2015. • Water meters being installed in 2014, to opposition. • Already in place in some rural areas for many years. • www.water.ie

  10. Challenges still facing Ireland • -Illegal dumping • -Resistance to change • -People seeing proposed water charges as an unjust tax. • -It will take time but we will get there.
