RADWG 8th15th November 2011 G. Spiezia (EN/STI/ECE)
PSI • PSI test– 2-5 September 2011 Report is on the web. • Next test: • 2-5 December. Memory, Comparators, DAC, ADC, Amplifiers • 16-18 December: NanoFip test (10 boards).
CNRAD • CNRAD Next TS • BPM: Test of the components for a new board • location 451 or forward 451 • QPS: Change of equipment • LED: • Cont
H4IRRAD • Slot: October 18- November 7th • EN/EL equipment • Cryo PLC • FGC test on the ADC • Component (ADC, DAC, Amplifiers, CPLD) • Detectors for Experiments • RP measurements
SEU events from Ocotber • QPS events. Follow up by TE/MPE (R. Denz) • Cryo events on the temperature readings. Follow up by TE/CRG (J.Cubillos). 3 Events • Cryo events on the PLC/Profibus-2 Transparent • Cryo events at point 6- 1 To be confirmed • Collimation control. 2 events • Power Converter. 1+2 To be confirmed • B/P/WIC. 1 Event To be confirmed • Access problems. 5 Events • Are biometry problems related to radiations?
Mitigations and on-going patches • Cryo equipment • Auto-reset PLC (Cryogenic Profibus) Relocation at long term • 24 Vdc power supply replacement for PLC in QURCxx systems • Temporary mask of the temperature sensors for Cryogenic (lower temp sensor needs reset as well ) Hardware change at long term • Analysis of the PLC failure mode (P4 and P6) at H4IRRAD: • a) PLCs redundancy: (possibly); • b) PLCs (Schneider) deported from the remote I/O (XMAS break) • QPS • Firmware to mitigate SEU due to ISO150 (reset of the board in the shadow of operation) • Hardware updates for the Xmas break and for the LS1 • Collimator • Power supply redundancy • Watch dog to survey stuck bits • Relocation at long term (LS) • B/P/WIC • Relocation from the UJ56
Lab 530 • Lab 530/R005: the only classified area for destructive and non-destructive works on electronics boards • A temporary solution waiting for the building 867 • Building 867 not yet ready. Some works to be completed + RP classification.March 2012? • RP point of view: declassification of the 530 when 867 is ready. Make sense. • However TSO is requiring the Lab 530/R-005 • Use of the Lab: RadMons + some external requests (Accelerators and experiments groups). Too limited use to justify the lab? • No special requests from the groups for the next months. (Message sent to the RadWG mailing list)?
R2E review (November)- Rad test and SEU Mitigations - Outline • Dedicated meeting to clarify the main objectives. • Slides are on Indico. Add the link • Agenda • Radiation test summary (CNRAD, H4IRRAD, PSI) • NanoFip project • Test strategy – a quick presentation to have your feedbacks • SEU induced failures: summary, mitigations and impact on operations • Requirements for the radiation tests in the next years
Back-up Many events in critical areas Under investigations with manufacturers. Any update New event last week Any news for the old ones?
Events to be confirmed Many events in critical areas Under investigations with manufacturers. Any update New event last week Any news for the old ones?
Events to be confirmed Not clear from the logbook Events not given in the xls file. Are they excluded or under investigation?
Events in the tunnel- Last month • 51 SEU from 25th August to 30th September • Some events transparent to the operation are not counted (table not updated)
