Comenius - Keeping the light on:Sustainable energy for the future Baza, 2-6 March 2009 Liceo scientifico M. Pagano
Questionnaire AGeneral Information This questionnaire aims at gathering general data to define the students ’sample group to whom questionnaires have been addressed to examine the results. We have requested : the size of the town of residence, the number of family members, the type and size of house, the type of windows, of heating system, of domestic lighting and of household goods they possessed. The results show that 83% of the students has a family of 4-6 persons 81% of students lives in the centre or in the suburbs, while the remaining part lives in the province of Campobasso. Almost 100% of students’ families use traditional electric lighting , only one student has a solar panel to produce energy. More than 70% uses gas for heating, while the remaining part uses electricity, wood or pellet heaters, fireplaces, other. The most relevant data is that almost 80% of the total sample: lives in the city or in the suburbs, uses gas for heating and the family is made up of 4-6 members. With reference to this sample, we have made a further test (paper test) to give students’ families They aimed at analysing the effective consumption of electricity and of gas. (While for the remaining part it was difficult to deduce general results.) In some of the towns where students live they are completing the gas distribution network,(which will improve the consumption for heating and for the production of hot water (56%). Besides the type of windows and heating system make us think that is possible to rationalize expenditure and waste of 30%. The use of ecological bulbs (50%) , the habit of turning off the electric households that remain in stand-by may improve the electric current use.
City of residence • up to 5,000 inhabitants • from 5,000 to 10,000 inhabitants • from 10,000 to 100,000 inhabitants
Age • 14-16 • 17-19
SECOND PART The results show that 80% corresponds to these characteristics: Sample A: Number of family members: 4-6 people Number of motor vehicles owned: 2-3- House size: detached/semidetached house of 200-300 square meters Flat: 100-200 square meters Other cases were too different therefore they were not taken into consideration. So we considered 80% of the sample and we gave them other questionnaires (paper questionnaires) that required the effective consumption of heating gas, electricity and fuel for motor vehicles during the year 2008.
