Calculator Programs for the ACT and how to use them
Cat Cube Cylla Dist F2k Line Log Math Midpoint Polyinfo Pyramid Pythagor Quadratic Radsimp Slope Slvsystm Trig yintslop Programs you will want:
Formula Programs: • Cube, Cylla, Pyramid, Trig • These programs do not actually do anything, they are used as references. • Access them by going to “edit” for that program. • Be sure to use “quit” to go back to your home screen, “clear” will erase lines of the program.
Programs with their own Menus: • F2k, Math • These have several functions within a single program. • You must choose from the menu which functions you wish to perform, then you must follow the directions correctly for each function
F2k Menu 1: • Area • Quadratic • Sysofequations • endpoint • distance • slope
area: • Surface area • Pythagorean • Pythag2 • Circle • trapezoid • parallelogram • triangle • regpolygon
sysofequations: • 2 variables • 3 variables
F2k Menu 2: • Bfactor • Factor • Triangle • Volume • Radicalreducer • English-Metric
volume: • cone • cube • cylinder • pyramid • rect. prism • sphere • trpzd prism • tringlr prism
english-metric • inches to cm • cm. to inches • oF to oC • oC to oF
F2k Menu 3: • asymptote • boxnwisk • piecewise • ieangle • sequence • eqofacircle
piecewise: • 2 equations • 3 equations • 4 equations
sequence: • arithmetic (1. supersum 2. number of terms 3. sum of finite 4. infinite limit 5. A x B) • geometric (1. sum of finite 2. sum of infinite 3. infinite limit 4. A x B) • sigma
Math: • Area (list of formulas) • Volume (list of formulas) • Loan (calculates pmts & interest) • Distance (calculates and gives formula) • Midpoint (calculates and gives formula) • Sales Tax (calculates tax and total price)
triangle • all tri (find area: 1. by length 2. by SAS) • right tri (find length of: 1. hypotenuse 2. a leg) • special tri (1. 30-60-90 2. 45-45-90)
Dist • finds the distance between two points • gives the formula used • tells the square root taken to find the distance in case the answer is needed in radical form
Line • gives the formula for point-slope form • the user inputs a point and the slope • the program writes an equation in slope-intercept form
Log • user inputs the “of” number (fatty) and the base • program gives the answer
Midpoint • user gives two coordinates • program gives the midpoint on two lines (x, y)
Pythagor • which side is missing • program calculates the missing side when the other two are given
Quadratic • user inputs A, B and C • the solution is given
Radsimp • simplifies roots other than square • index is the root, radicand is the number under the radical
Slope • asks for two points • gives the slope in the form rise/run
Slvsystm • ax + by = c • dx + ey = f • asks for a, b, c, d, e, f • solves for x and y
Yintslop • asks for two points • gives the slope and y-intercept
