  3. Process of Developing CommCare: Focus Group Observation Paper Protocols Build CommCare Test

Work from a tireless group of RTHCs/DTHCs and DTLCs • The group of RTHCs/DTHCs and DTLCs spent two days in Kibaha reviewing the entire Checklist and Data collection paper tool • Field follow-up with DTHCs to observe the interaction and how data collection is done • The paper protocol was made based on the reviewed tool • The electronic prototype was designed based on the reviewed paper protocols • The same group of RTHCs/DTHCs and DTLCs got a 2 days training on the tool

Implementation of PATH Comm • Conducted a two days focus group discussions • Three field visits -follow-up to observe the work flow and interaction between DTHCs and Health facility staff • Two days training of Supervision/Data collection tool • Four field support training after the FB training • Two different versions of FB is being deployed

Work on Progress • Continue to refine the tool to make it more user friendly • Research on the stable phones to handle the app. Nokia 5630c has been tested and proved to be able to run the app without problem • Specify alerts and reports needed from FB tool after phase 2 • Demo mode to be used to test the tool in order for users to test the tool with more submissions

Challenges • Limitation of understand the existing system • The type of phone model capable to hand the FB app • Limitation of time to test the tool before the end of phase 2 (data collection done quarterly) • Airtime management, personal calls • Uptake and understanding technology-Ericson • Report specifications
