  2. Stages of a Frog’s Life Egg Adult Frog Tadpole There is 4 stages. Froglet

  3. Stage 1: Egg • The female frog (or momma) frog lays a group of fertilized eggs (also called frog spawn) into the water. • Each egg contains a single cell that will later split and develop into the adult frog.

  4. Stage 2: Tadpole After breaking from the egg, the cell which developed into an embryo slowly develops gills and organs and is now called a tadpole. The tail of the tadpole is to help it swim.

  5. Stage 3: Froglet The frog now begins to grow hind and forelegs as well as lose their tail. They have advanced from tadpole to froglet. They are also growing lungs so they can leave the water.

  6. Stage 4: Adult Frog Finally, the adult frog emerges from the water with fully functioning lungs, 4 legs, and no tail. The adult frog will mainly stick to dry land, but will visit water from time to time.

  7. Amphibians Frogs are amphibians because they are classified as living “two lives”: the life as a tadpole in the water, and then the life of a frog on land. There are 4,000 kinds of amphibians.

  8. The Continued Process As the frogs continue to grow and feed on insects, they will meet a fellow froggie and more eggs will be laid. The process starts all over again.

  9.
