West Side Story “Cool” Very strong and sudden Really shows emotion in the characters that they are angry and want to “play it cool” A lot of strong movements You can really tell how the dancers are trying to take their anger and “giving it” to dance. West Side Story “Dance at the Gym” Very Sustained and settle (sometimes) Really shows that they are in a competition and at the same time shows that they are enjoying the dance. A lot of soft tippy toe movements (specialy the girls) Contrast
Both “Cool” and Dance at the Gym” are: Energetic Exiting Have a lot of kicks Have Emotion Choreographed by Jerome Robbins Compare
