How Improv works in theatre • A type of theatre which is built around off the cuff story telling. • Often times used for the sake of humor. • Sometimes used as a therapy for those in need of help. • As a technique, improvisation is the basis for CYA, and dealing with adversities on stage. • Character Improvs are acting exercises in which actors attempt to flesh out their performances.
Rules of Improv • Never say “no,” which includes but is not limited to: • Refusing to participate due to story/idea • Unwillingness to work with certain people • Being embarrassed • Keeping it School Appropriate: if you feel like a principal at our school would not like what you are doing, DON’T DO IT!!! • Keeping it Respectful: What happens in improv activities stays in the class. You should be respectful of your peers, and also respect their work.
