The Heart of a Woman • The heart of a woman goes forth with the dawn, As a lone bird, soft winging, so restlessly on, Afar o'er life's turrets and vales does it roam In the wake of those echoes the heart calls home. The heart of a woman falls back with the night, And enters some alien cage in its plight, And tries to forget it has dreamed of the starsWhile it breaks, breaks, breaks on the sheltering bars.
Theme • This is what I think this poem means: • A women goes forward in the morning. She is lonely ,tired and wants to go home. Then she goes to sleep and has dreams but tries to forget the dreams because she knows that the dream will never come true. They are out of reach. • The poem is negative and positive because the woman is moving forward day by day.
Literary/Poetic Devices • Breaks , Breaks , Breaks- is a repetition and using consonants. • As a lone bird- is a simile. It is comparing a woman to a bird.
