:: today’s agenda • today is a working day to work on your “expression through typography in motion” assignment. • in-class demonstration • John Lasseter’s principles of traditional animation applied to computer animation • I will briefly talk about this SIGGRAPH paper.
:: homework due in two weeks :: 9.20.05 • expression through typography in motion • purpose/objective: To solve a visual time-based design problem using only typography in order to communicate a narrative visual message. • assignment: Choose a few sentences from anywhere you like (a line from a book, a quote from a speech, a line from a movie, etc.) or make up your own. Then bring the sentence to life by animating the letters and words using Flash. • format: flash animation - 2 versions @ 30 fps, 320x240, at least 10 seconds long. • flash .swf • quicktime .mov
:: post mortem • How smoothly did today’s class run? • What slowed us down? • What did we skip over? • How can we be more efficient in the future?
