  1. Three Strategies for Expanding your Circle of Influence By Jennifer Ransaw Smith CEO Brand id|Strategic Partner

  2. “The richest people in the world look for and build networks, everyone else looks for work.” -Robert Kiyosaki

  3. Host a Lunch or Dinner Party • Pick 3-4 people you have been wanting to get to know better. Example: • Professor • Reporter • Industry professional • Identify a great restaurant for lunch • Set up a Pre-Fixed Menu and pay before the guests arrive • Send out written invitations or Evite • Let them know that you have no hidden agenda. You simply want to connect interesting people together. Have an enjoyable time. • Stay in touch

  4. Quarterly Touch Base • Write down everyone you know and put them on an excel spread sheet • Rank them according to those that are in a personal circle, those in a professional circle • List on the spreadsheet interesting facts about them: interests, career, etc. You can do your research if you don’t know via LinkedIn, Facebook, etc. • Who is most influential? • Start “touching base” • Reach out quarterly to see how they are doing? • Send emails, drop them articles of interest • The goal is to simply “keep in touch” and let them know you are thinking of them.

  5. The Connectors • Go back to your list of those in your “circle of influence” and write down where they came from? • Do you see that you are meeting many of the people in an unusual way or through a particular source? • Who are the people who are “consistently” introducing you to influential people? • Put a game plan together to nurture that relationship more: • Drop them periodic “gifts” • Send them cards • Do nice things for them since they play a role in the expansion of your circle.
