Extension for CPR • I have decided to grant an extension for the CPR. • New due date: • Tuesday, Nov 2, 11:59pm • Reason: its heavy requirements under “midterm time” • You will have had two full weeks by then to have worked on it. • *REMEMBER to ALWAYS check the syllabus to be UP-TO-DATE on incoming MAJOR assignments
“Norming” of Sample CPRs • Download the CPR Assignment (Blackboard) • Download the CPR samples (PBWorks Homepage) • How norming works: • Individual student grades the paper according to the rubric and its sections • Scores are tallied and papers are issued an overall grade • Group consensus is reached on the ideal grade for each section through reasoning/evidence (logos) • Purposes: to provide “exemplary,” “average”, and “inadequate” models of CPR papers • to provide familiarity with the CPR grading rubric
Remember the CPR Requirements • 4-6 pages long (INCLUDING abstract, NOT including title page or references pages) • One to two visual aids • 7-10 Diverse, Reliable Sources
Point System for Each Section • Focusing on reporting on the issue as opposed to inserting unfounded and distracting opinion • A = 20 pts • B = 15 • C = 10 • D = 5 • F = 2 • Quality and Use of Sources (weaving scholarly, reliable into one’s writing) • A = 25 pts • B = 20 • C = 15 • D = 10 • F = 5 • Diversity and Quantity of Sources • A = 15 pts • B = 12 • C = 7 • D = 5 • F = 2 • Fluency • A = 25 pts • B = 20 • C = 15 • D = 10 • F = 5 • APA Format • A = 15 pts • B = 12 • C = 7 • D = 5 • F = 2
