  2. January 7 • Middle and High Social Studies Teachers meet together at LHS. • Three break-out groups: 1. Civics, Econ, and Government 2. US History 3. World History and World Geography

  3. January 7 • Send a best practice to Bev Howard before Christmas break. • Include name and subject taught. • Hard copies of best practices will be shared with the entire group on 1/7. • Break into small groups within content area to discuss best practices.

  4. Agenda • 12:30-12:50 – Whole group session • 12:50-1:00 – Break • 1:00–2:45 – Collaborate with colleagues in content specific groups.

Florida Statute • Section 1008.22 http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=1000-1099/1008/1008.html • (8) LOCAL ASSESSMENTS.— (a) Measurement of the learning gains of students in all subjects and grade levels other than subjects and grade levels required for the state student achievement testing program is the responsibility of the school districts. (b) Beginning with the 2014-2015 school year, each school district shall administer for each course offered in the district a student assessment that measures mastery of the content, as described in the state-adopted course description, at the necessary level of rigor for the course.

  8. Florida Statute Such assessments may include: 1. Statewide assessments. 2. Other standardized assessments, including nationally recognized standardized assessments. 3. Industry certification examinations. 4. District-developed or district-selected end-of-course assessments.

  9. Florida Statute • (c) The Commissioner of Education shall identify methods to assist and support districts in the development and acquisition of assessments required under this subsection. Methods may include developing item banks, facilitating the sharing of developed tests among school districts, acquiring assessments from state and national curriculum-area organizations, and providing technical assistance in best professional practices of test development based upon state-adopted curriculum standards, administration, and security.

  11. Florida Item Bank and Test Platform • Item Bank Test Platform will be ready this summer. • K-8 and World History, United States History, United States Government, Economics, and Access Points are all included.

  12. Osceola County Award (CFAC) • Psychology, Sociology test questions were developed with this award.

  13. Item Types • Selected Response – Multiple Choice (1 point) • SR items for Grades K-2 have three answer options. • SR items for Grades 3-12 have four answer options. Open-ended Response Items (rubrics and exemplars provided) • Short Response (1 point) • One or two word answers • Constructed Response (2 points) • Brief written response
