What to Take to Your Interview • Print out of Electronically completed visa application form DS 160 • Original I-20 form, Passport & Kimlik • Visa application fee receipt ($160 paid to AK Bank) • Most recent transcript (in a sealed envelope) • Original financial and/or bank statements (same as the statements that were provided to the SUNY campus for I-20 issuance). • Recommended documents from Group Visa Interview Process Instructions (word document) * Your passport must be valid for at least six months after your planned entry date into the United States

Electronic Visa Application Form DS 160: Your Role • It is important to FULLY and CORRECTLY complete the DS-160 • Incomplete or incorrect forms will not be accepted • Applicants will not be able to interview until a correct form has been re-submitted • Consistently poor completion may result in potential disciplinary measures • Incorrectly completed forms may also result in permanent ineligibility for a visa

Read the instructions and select location Accessing the DS 160:https://ceac.state.gov/genniv*if you can’t access the site, try a different web browser IMPORTANT: IF THE CHOSENSELECTION IS WRONG, THE INFORMATION IN THE DS-160 WILL BE SENT TO A DIFFERENT DATABASE AND THE CONSULATE WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR APPLICATION.

  10. Photo Requirements: be sure to follow guidelines, which are linked from the photo upload page.

Photo Requirements • If the photo meets the quality standards, you can press “Continue Using This Photo” • If the photo does not pass, you will have to provide another photo that meet the standards. • If you are attending a group visa interview, you MUST provide a photo. Applications without a photo will not be accepted.

  13. Saving Your Application If you can’t finish in one sitting, you can save the application To retrieve your application click “Retrieve Application” and follow the prompts. You will need to enter: Your application ID First 5 letters of Surname Year of Birth Answer to Security Question

  14. Completing the DS 160 Form FIELDS THAT DETERMINE IF ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS WILL BE REQUIRED.

Printing the Confirmation Page • Print the confirmation page twice – keep one copy for your records. • You MUST bring the printed confirmation sheet to the visa interview. • We recommend that you print the entire application for your own records • Your confirmation page will be kept by the consular official who interviews you

Tips for Completing the DS 160 • Complete all questions carefully and accurately and IN ENGLISH • Inserting wrong information or leaving required items blank will only delay the application process • If a question does not apply to you, you must check the ‘Does Not Apply’ box • Be especially careful with the yes/no questions near the end, as misrepresenting the facts can make you ineligible to receive a visa ever. • Save and review your work at the end. Check carefully that everything is correct before clicking ‘submit’ –it’s impossible to make changes once the application has been submitted.

  18. Why Apply Early? • To avoid unexpected delays, such as the Embassy/Consulate closing without notice • To provide ample time for the completion of additional processing (name check) • To have more time for other responsibilities
