Other Professional Member Numbers • We have more members over 70 than under 30 • And more over 60 than under 40 • And more over 50 than under 50 (median is 51) • 12% of members are on a committee, are a Region/Section officer or are on a Board • 78% of those that listed age are 40 or older • 80% of TC/PC members that listed age are 40 or older • Only 8% of our members are female (19% of BoD)

  9. Why Change? The future of AIAA is at stake. • We are becoming less relevant to our members and potential members • We are mostly “male, pale and stale” • Young people ARE joiners, but they don’t stay with us • We are weak in the things that the largest employers (and their employees?) look for from associations • Technical activities throughout the value chain • Recognition of technical and product excellence • Educating the public and Congress about aerospace Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
