Coach’s Philosophy My Philosophy is Simple: • “Develop each and every player so that their experience with the U12 Girls A Pool/Team will encourage them to continue their participation in soccer at this level with enthusiasm and a sense of accomplishment.” My Objective: • 1st, to transform this group of “A” Pool Athletes from a collection of talented individuals into a highly cohesive unit so that the whole is greater than the sum of its’ parts. • 2nd, to develop character by promoting physical, social and leadership skills within the players. Emphasis will be placed on concepts, such as team spirit, sportsmanship, respect for themselves and their teammates. My Commitment to You and the U12 Girls “A” Pool: • Provide and maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning and enjoyment of soccer. • Maintain the BSC focus and priorities as it pertains to player development. • Follow all aspects of the BSC code of conduct and I encourage each of you to do the same. • Create an environment where individuals are treated equal and with respect. • Encourage and challenge all players to, above all, ensure that they enjoy the game and improve upon the individual skills that lie within them. • Turn out skilled soccer players with a sound understanding of the game. Final Word: • When the game is over, I want your head up and I know that you did your best. This means to do the best you can do, no one can do more.
Players Expectations Punctuality: • Arrive for all training sessions and games at the predisposed time. Equipment should be ready and in good working order. • Attendance is important. If you cannot make a training session or game please notify the coaching staff well in advance. Appearance: • Should be clean and tidy, hair back off face, no jewellery, shoes clean, uniform jersey tucked in. • Wear pre-identified gear/kit to all practices and games. Attitude: • Bring an open mind to all training sessions and games. Be willing to accept constructive criticism. Be positive, encourage one another. Effort: • My expectation is that each player must give 100% commitment, performance and effort at all times during all training and games. Responsibility: • Represent your team and club in a manner becoming of a young rep team athlete. • Adhere to all of the above, you owe it to your teammates, coach, your parents and yourselves in order for you to experience success. Always respect your teammates, coaches, officials, opponents, your parents and most importantly yourselves.
Parent Expectations • Encourage your daughters to exhibit sportsmanship behaviour. • Encourage positive support and respect for all players, coaches and officials. • Do not coach from the sidelines, it will send mixed messages which can be very confusing. Encourage and cheer the players. • I will ask that during a game no parent cross the field to converse with the coaching staff. • If parents have an issue/concern, please apply the 24/48 hour delay rule: whereby any of the coaching staff may be contacted upon the completion of said delay, following discussions with the head Coach, a response will be formulated. • If you are not satisfied with the response, you may take your concerns to the BSC for final resolution. • Most of all focus on the successes of the players’ efforts, development and performance, rather than on the teams’ results alone.
Indoor Training - Summary • Monday evenings @ Mind 2 Muscle, 7:00pm. • Wednesday evenings @ Hillcrest Elementary, 6:30pm. • Several scrimmages using full field 11v11 throughout the winter challenging various levels of competition. • Possible indoor tournament currently being considered. • Considering the possibility of a training session every second weekend at various fields.
Outdoor Training – Pre Season • As soon as we have club approval and fields are open we will head outdoors, hopefully in May. • In April we will commence outdoor training twice per week. One of these sessions will be at Sheppards Bush in Aurora. • In May we will increase our training frequency to 3 times per week in preparation for the commencement of our season sometime in late May. • Once the outdoor league commences we will cut practice back to twice a week.
2008 Outdoor League Info • We will play in the The Central Girls Soccer League (CGSL)2008 U12 Level 4 Premier. • The majority of our games will likely be on Monday nights based on U12 2008 schedule. There may be the odd Wed, Thurs or Sun game subject to host team. Season usually begins in late May. • Unconfirmed list of teams in league (you will find links to these teams on our website under the Links section) • Barrie Spirit A • Newmarket United 97A or Wexford Panthers • Ajax Thunder • Ajax Hornets • Etobicoke Energy A • Toronto Eagles • Markham Lightning • Richmond Hill Raiders or Oshawa Kick
Tournaments • I would like to participate in at least 4 tournaments this year which are yet to be confirmed. I will do my best to spread them out throughout the season. • West Niagara Invitational (May 11th and 12th) • Barrie Spiritfest (June * & *, Defending Champs-Mandatory) • Tournament TBD • 1 other tournament in the fall (TBD) • Ontario Cup (round robin during course of season) The Ontario Cup, the Provincial Soccer Championship, is the largest competition of its kind in Canada, and is The Ontario Soccer Association’s flagship property.
Fundraising Fundraisers: • Last year the Online Silent Auction was instrumental in absorbing fall/winter training and equipment costs. It will be again launched in November. A communication in this regard will be forthcoming. • Kick-off Gala in the spring also raised significant monies towards team operational costs and will likely be held again. • Perhaps a golf tournament in the summer. • Various other fundraising activities will be introduced during the course of the year for the girls to participate in. It is completely understood that families have many commitments outside of soccer therefore these fundraising initiatives have been chosen carefully with the view that they are the least time invasive while still generating ample revenue. Note: Please note fundraising monies are raised and collected on the legal principle that the revenue received are made payable to Barrie Soccer Club (a not for profit organization) and will go solely towards the development of the U12Girls “A” Pool (and after the roster is finalized) the U12 Girls “A” Team, to be disbursed at the sole discretion, in both cases, by the current coach. The ONLY monies paid by players in conjunction with U12 Girls “A” Pool or Team development that are legally subject to reimbursement during the course of the season are Team Fees, Tournament Fees, Training Fees and Rep Camp Fees.
Fees • Indoor Fall/Winter Fees: • Indoor Club Registration Fee $70 – Due Oct 26 • Indoor Fall/Winter Fee#1 - $120 (All families will get rebate dependent on success of fundraising initiatives) • Indoor Winter Fee#2 - $120 (Will not be collected dependent on success of fundraising initiatives) • Outdoor Spring/Summer Fees • House League Fee: $125 approx • Rep Fee: $400 (subject to change) • Team Fee: $TBD – Usually $150 but will be revisited after fundraising revenues realized • Rep Camp: Club charges approximately $100/player. Fee per player TBD • Tournament Fees. Generally the cost for registration in the various tournaments the team will participate in is anywhere between $300 and $450 per team, per tournament. • Mind2Muscle Fitness Training Fees. • Last year, due to sufficient fundraising revenues Tournament and Mind2Muscle fees were absorbed by the Team Funds. This will be determined whether again possible at earliest opportunity.
