Journalist Currier outlook and pathways Job openings over the next few years will result from both the creation of new jobs and replacing experienced workers who retire. Technology has impacted this occupation in a number of ways, and journalists who are familiar with newer technologies and who have good computer skills will have an advantage over others seeking work in this field. People are now easily transferred between writers and publishers via email and the Internet, and journalists may be required to use web access and laptops for remote filing of stories. For the last 7 year, there has been a slow decline in newspaper readership and an increased interest in Internet news sites. Recent graduates both in print and broadcast media typically find employment in smaller businesses (i.e. daily or weekly newspapers and smaller radio and television stations). The Mainland/Southwest region has the highest number of those employed in Writing, Translating and Public Relations Professionals
I would like to be a journalist because I love to write for one, and I also enjoy how much writing helps me express me feelings in a way I can make a living off of. I also think its cool how I can right things how I like it, and how I would be able to turn my idea’s into book’s or columns! Being a writer is good money wise to, you get good money off of being a writer. Also I just personally think that being a writer is an amazing job if you are very interested in writing, or if you are a person who enjoys literature then being a writer is something you should look forward to doing. It also helps with you grammar and punctuations.

Massage therapists treat the soft tissues and joints of the body through soft tissue manipulation, hydrotherapy, remedial exercise programs and client self-help programs. Ophthalmic medical assistants operate ophthalmic testing and measuring instruments to aid ophthalmologists in assessing patients' vision; record test results assist ophthalmologists in office surgery.

Hours of employment generally depend on the business hours of health-care practices. *The work of massage therapists and physical rehabilitation technicians can be physically demanding, as these workers use their arms and hands for massaging and stand for long periods of time. *Working conditions are hard for individuals in this group, depending on the specific occupation. *Audio prosthetics and hearing instrument practitioners are required to complete a two- or three-year college program in audio prosthetics. *In B.C., massage therapists must be registered with the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC). * Certification requires completion of a three year program in massage therapy and written and practical provincial examinations. *Physical rehabilitation technicians generally need to complete a two, or three year college program in physical rehabilitation therapy and a period of supervised practical training.

The full-time salary for this group is below the provincial average, although wages may vary depending on occupation. Approximately three-quarters of workers in this profession are women, and over half of those employed in this group are massage therapists. Many of these workers are employed by the Health care and social assistance industry, with the remaining one-third employed in a variety of other industries. Employment is fairly close to the average for all occupations in all other regions, except for the Caribou, where employment is significantly below average. Employment is distributed similar to the distribution of B.C.'s population, with the majority working in more densely populated areas, such as the Lower Mainland-Southwest and Vancouver Island and Coast regions.

Ophthalmic medical assistants may progress to higher levels of certification with additional training and experience.
Being a physical therapist is something you should do if u have strong sturdy hand. If you are looking forward to being a physical therapist then you should be able to where certain nerves or muscles are located so you can massage them so they are less tense. You also have to know how to de-tense nerves or muscle properly you don’t hurt or harm the person’s nerves or muscles. You also should be a physical therapist if you are good with people so if they are nerviest or tense you can be able to calm then, you also need to be friendly and calm so you can keep the person calm too.

Party Planner ( Work conditions and qualifications) *Workers in this occupation tend to work in a range of settings. Planners may work from an office. Much of the work, however, will be undertaken on-site at hotels, convention centers, or other event locations. Weekend and evening work is common and planners often work long hours prior to and during events. There is a seasonal aspect to employment for festival planners, whose events tend to be concentrated in the summer months. Workers are increasingly using event planning software, performing duties through tools such as webinars, virtual conferences and podcasts, and using the internet to access information. Completion of a university degree or college diploma in marketing, sales, business, tourism or hospitality administration is usually required. Certification relating to the management of special events, meetings or conferences, such as a Certified Meeting Professional designation, may also be required. Additional training in marketing, planning or tourism is an asset. Several years of experience in hospitality, tourism administration, public relations or in a comparable position at a conference centre or hotel are usually required and, in some circumstances, may substitute for formal education requirements (up to two years is preferred in some instances). Individuals should also have strong customer service and computer skills. Experience in computer-aided design drawings is an asset.
PARTY PLANNER Current workforce *This is a medium-sized occupational group, with a below average number of people employed full time throughout the entire year. *Women make up a large majority of the workforce. * Self-employment is common, which allows conference and event planners to be flexible with respect to the amount of work they take on, as well as the amount they work in any one year. *Employment is concentrated in the Information, culture and recreation sector. Other sectors include Management, administrative and other support, and Educational services. *Workers are employed predominately in the Lower Mainland region. In the Vancouver Island region, workers are distributed close to the average level, as compared to other occupations. * There are fewer conference and event planners employed in the southern interior and northern B.C. regions when compared to all other occupations.
Party Planner (Employment lookout and pathways) *The majority of job openings in this occupational group are expected to come from retirements. *British Columbia has become increasingly popular as a tourist destination, both domestically and internationally. This will improve demand for workers in this occupation, as the desirability to use sites within B.C. increases. *New conference facilities (i.e. the Vancouver Convention Centre) are also increasing the capacity of the province to host large events. *Industry sources report that demand for workers in this occupation is linked to the general economy, and that increased demand may be in response to more positive economic conditions. *Competition for employment in this field will likely be strong due to the desirable nature of this work. * The Mainland/Southwest region has the highest number of those employed in Administrative and Regulatory Occupations in all of the B.C. development regions. Conference and Event Planners is one group within Administrative and Regulatory Occupations occupations.
Being a party planner are for people who are really organized, on task, and creative. It is also really fun and you can socialize a lot, while still be working. You should have a creative mind if you want to be a party planner, because you can put your idea’s into it and make it look really nice. Being a party planner may be fun but a party planner has a lot of responsibilities. Such as planning the food beverages, sending invitations out, getting entertainment, and making sure there is really good security. A party planner has many responsibilities, so if this is something you like to do and you are organized, prepared and ready then a party planner is the job for you.
