  3. Don't Forget the Lyrics Analysis “Firework” Part I: Title (Prior to listening to song/receiving lyrics) Discuss as a group: Look at the individual word(s) in the title. Are there any hints as to the subject matter/topic of the poem? What does the title mean to you? Make a prediction. POSSIBLE RESPONSE: Going beyond the literal meaning, you might predict that the song is about something that is powerful—either an event or person.

What is the tone of this song? • How did reading the lyrics affect your mood? • What line(s) or passage had the strongest impact on you? • POSSIBLE RESPONSES: • TONE: uplifting, hopeful, energetic, optimistic, etc. • MOOD: makes readers think positively about their own lives; makes readers feel empowered
