Autonomous Connected Vehicle Certificate Program Capstone Project Reports http://www.engin.umd.umich.edu/EPD/acvt.php Team X June, 2011
Task 1: The goal is to maximize the sphere of applications without compromise on reliability in a dense traffic scenario where hundreds of vehicles access simultaneously using WAVE connection. What information set should be received and sent by the On Board Unit (OBU)? Prioritize. Justify each selection. What applications would that support. Specify information subset for each. Suggestions to increase basic information set (Protocol).
Task 2: Using maps of the Michigan Test Bed area place the Road Side Equipment (RSE) to achieve optimal performance (Application). List positioning requirements and design parameters you used Locate up-to 56 RSE units on the map provided to enable most applications. Highway (limited apps) vs. arterial (Intersections, School –zone) Suggestions to improve coverage
Download (and replace) actual map files from:http://www.engin.umd.umich.edu/EPD/acvt.php
Task 3: Using probe data records provided, determine the geographic structure/mapping of two intersections and the connecting road. List data interpretation assumptions Schematic drawing of intersection 1. Explain. Complete the task based on data only and without looking into Google etc. Include phases, # of lanes, turning lanes, etc. Schematic drawing of intersection 2. Explain. Suggestions to improve the data set or the accuracy of the results
Download (and replace) actual probe data files (excel and/or XML) from:http://www.engin.umd.umich.edu/EPD/acvt.php
Task 4: Using probe data records, propose modifications to intersection programming to improve traffic flow. List data interpretation assumptions Suggestions Suggest other possible applications for probe data
