Inhibition of the uptake of 1-[14C]L-methionine (A) and 1-[14C] D-methionine (B) by the energy poisoning compounds carbonyl cyanide 4- trifluoromethoxyphenylhydrazone (FCCP) and sodium arsenate. The wild type cells, prepared as described in Figure 2, were incubated with 2 M FCCP or 5 mM sodium arsenate at 37 oC for 10 min prior to addition of [14C]methionine.
