What is the NEDP? • A national effort to improve the quality, accessibility, and transparency of state education data • Components: The State Education Data Center; phase two of the Decision Support Architecture Consortium (DSAC); EIMAC LSDS Task Force • Partners: CCSSO, Standard & Poor’s, CELT Corporation, Data Quality Campaign • Funder: The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
The State Education Data Center • A project of CCSSO, approved by CCSSO Board of Directors • Eventually a 501(c)3 • Incorporate SEDC functions • Incorporate Data Quality Campaign functions • Investigation of long-term funding • Advisory Council • Website • Implementation of the Coordinated Data Ask (with the Data Quality Campaign)

Coordinated Data Ask • CDA will be phased in (about 70% of CDA will be in Phase I) • Data collectors can be directed to SEDC website for data downloads. Anything available on the website will be available for download. • www.ccsso.org/eimac
What’s in the CDA? • 100 data groups • Directory, Enrollment/Demographic, Student Performance, Teacher and Staffing, Other Indicators • About 50% in EDFacts • About 100 EDFacts data groups not reflected in CDA
EDFacts? • Cooperation with EDFacts • USED will investigate releasing EDFacts files—upon request of states—to SEDC • Small cell size suppression • Joint Funding Proposal
State Education Data Center • Working Timeline • June 2007. CDA final; implementation phases identified • August 2007. Virtual meeting of Advisory Council • July/August 2007. Decision on sharing of EDFacts files • September 2007. Rebranded website live; mass data download feature available. • October 2007. Full day meeting of Advisory Council.
