  2. Do Now “The chilling truth is that his story could have been mine. The tragedy is that my story could have been his” • Wes Moore Explain, in two or three sentences, the meaning of this quote to someone who has never read author Wes Moore’s book.

  3. Key Question • How could two men, of such similar backgrounds, turn out so differently?

  4. One possibility: Fathers • Listen to the song “Papa was a Rolling Stone” by the Temptations (1972). Circle three lyrics that describe the characteristics of the‘other’ Wes Moore’s father. • How was author Wes Moore’s father different from this? How could this have contributed to the two Wes Moore’s having such different lives?

  5. Another factor: Education • According to author Wes Moore, what are some reasons why education can make a difference in a person’s life? • Review the chart on the two Wes Moores and circle the life events that relate in some way to education.
