06 March 2007 - Preparation of the 2007 Annual Project proposal and presentation of same to the Regional Coordinator.
*10 March 2007 - The project was approved by the activist of Janasansadaya. complete report of the discussion has been forwarded to the Regional coordinator.
The Sinhala translation of the OPCAT documents have been completed. Many copies have been photocopied and made ready. A photocopy of the document has been given to the UNHCR office in Sri Lanka. It is informed that they are working towards obtaining ratification of OPCAT from the Sri Lanka government.
The Tamil translation of the OPCAT documents have been completed. This too has been photocopied and made into copies.

Campaign Materials Digital printed posters containing quotations, facts and figures pertaining to torture have been prepared for the use of SMJR’s and Exhibitions on Torture Prevention.
Discussion had with regard to the project with UN HR Country Team. It is informed that they will be discussing same with the Human Rights Donor Team.
A view exchange meeting was held with the Janasansaday Lawyers involved in handling torture cases. They agreed to be involved in the project.
Discussion with PAT Core Group. They too are in approval of the project.
A view exchange meeting was held with the JMO’s. The forum served to identify the duties and responsibilities of the JMO’s and connected problems. They showed enthusiasm to work together in the future.
Discussion with Commissioner General of Prisons as a result and consequent to the discussion with Commissioner of Welfare prisons.
Discussion of the project with the former Commissioner Welfare Prisons, and the present Commissioner of Welfare prisons.
