  2. Zeus • Roman Name: Jupiter • God of: The Sky • Son of: Cronus and Rhea • Husband of: Hera • Symbol: Thunderbolt • Biggest Claim to Fame: Being the supreme ruler of Mt. Olympus. • *Zeus drew lots with his brothers, Poseidon and Hades, and won the draw. His prize? To be the ultimate ruler on Mt. Olympus.

  3. Poseidon • Roman Name: Neptune • God of: The Sea • Son of: Cronus and Rhea • Symbol: The trident • Biggest Claim to Fame: Causing the hero Odysseus to be blown off course a time or two. • *Poseidon is second in power to Zeus.

  4. Hades • Roman Name: Pluto • God of: The Underworld • Son of : Cronus and Rhea • Husband to: Persephone • Biggest Claim to Fame: Kidnapping Persephone for half the year. • *Hades is also the god of wealth

  5. Hera • Roman Name: Juno • Goddess of: Marriage and Fertility • Daughter of: Cronus and Rhea • Wife to: Zeus • Biggest Claim to Fame: Punishing a multitude of Zeus’s lovers.

  6. Hestia • Roman Name: Vesta • Goddess of: The Hearth • Daughter of: Cronus and Rhea

  7. Ares • Roman Name: Mars • God of: War • Son of: Zeus and Hera • Biggest Claim to Fame: Having an adulterous affair with Aphrodite. * Ares is extremely bloodthirsty and murderous; however he is also a coward.

  8. Athena • Roman Name: Minerva • Goddess of: Wisdom and Battle • Daughter of: Zeus • Symbol: The Olive Tree • Biggest Claim to Fame: Siding and helping the Greeks during the Trojan war. • *Athena was believed to be born by sprouting from her father’s head, fully grown and dressed.

  9. Apollo • Roman Name: Apollo • God of: Music • Son of: Zeus and Leto • Biggest Claim to Fame: His order of Delphi which allows people to see into the future. *Apollo is the twin brother to Artemis.

  10. Artemis • Roman Name: Diana • Goddess of: The Hunt • Daughter of: Zeus and Leto • Biggest Claim to Fame: Not causing her mother pain during childbirth.

  11. Aphrodite • Roman Name: Venus • Goddess of: Love and Beauty • Daughter of: Zeus and Dione* • Biggest Claim to Fame: Being the most beautiful being and causing the Trojan War. • *Aphrodite is married to Hephaestus…the ugliest God on Mt. Olympus

  12. Hermes • Roman Name: Mercury • God of: Messenger God • Son of: Zeus and Maia • Biggest Claim to Fame: Escorting souls to the underworld. • Symbol: Winged shoes • *Hermes is the only God who cannot fly.

  13. Hephaestus • Roman Name: Vulcan • God of: Fire • Son of: Zeus and Hera • Biggest Claim to Fame: Being the blacksmith to the Gods. • *It is said that Hephaestus was born from Hera alone when she found out that Zeus birthed Athena solo.
