What are Google Forms & How can you use them in your courses ? • Want a good way to let your students tell you what was not understood, anonymously? • Looking for new ways to engage the student with technology?
Want to step-up and away from the Scantron machine? • Google Documents and Forms provides a cleaner looking, technologically more efficient way to give polls, tests, and quizzes. • You won’t have to use (or fight with) the Scantron machine, so you can grade at home.
Google forms can help save time • Google forms creates a link you send to the students • Get results in spreadsheet or graphs • Use Flubaroo for computations of grades No sign in is necessary!
How do I start a new Google form? • Go to docs.google.com & sign in – or- • Open g-mail-Documents from your main mail page
Type in your questions. 5 different question types are available
Here is a quiz that uses every type of question available: Short answer box Multiple choice-one answer Checkbox –more than one answer Scale Long answer box (essay) Answer by grids
You can change the look of the form easily Click here to change the look of the Form Here are the choices of format
Here is the form changed and beautified-change back by clicking “cancel”. Click “apply” if you like it.
Here is a completed spreadsheet filled in with answers for an exam-
TIP: Use the “form” menu to open the live form. The number (9) shows you how many responses you’ve received
Once you have created the form (test, quiz) here is what to do You will need to open the form and answer it to create the correct answer key for scoring purposes
Use Flubaroo to compute your grades: Go to the “insert” menu, scroll down to “script”, choose “education”, or type in “Flubaroo” and “search”…and click “install” You must install the software – but it’s easy!

Flubaroo lets you know which questions were answered wrong by 60% of the students- so you can throw out a question that might have been misunderstood
