How do the setting, conflicts, and antagonists influence the development of literary heroes? • Conflicts and early life influences can have a huge impact on the way people transform into heroes as they age. • As Frodo grew up he was often picked on, this made him very rebelling. (Maggot)
How does a hero reflect his/her particular culture and society? • Frodo of the Shire puts the Shire on the map. Up until this point, nobody of middle earth really knew much of or messed with the Hobbits. But as Frodo and Samwise made their journey, the many other races of middle earth learned of the happy, fun loving folk. (Tolkien 20-30)
How do various cultures reward or recognize their heroes? • In Lord of the rings many cultures are celebrated in different ways. As for Hobbits of the Shire, they are celebrated with mostly alcohol. (Tolkien 20-25)
What happens during the youth of a hero to make them the way they are? • As a youth, it was said that frodo was a little “rascal”. He was often playing tricks on others in Hobbiton. • Also as a child with no parents, he would occasionally rebel against authority.("Frodo Baggins." JRR)
What happens when frodo has the ring to deceive him and turn him into a monster. • As Frodo carries the ring, its powers and effects slowly decieve him. If it wasn’t for the determination of his friend Samwise, The ring was sure to have totally transformed him to evil. • This same thing happened to Gollum/Sméagol (LRR Series)
Why is Sam such a good friend to frodo? • Samwise Gamgee, a Gardener in the Shire was co-ringbearer in the journey to destroy the one ring. • Throughout the Journey, Sam helped keep Frodo looking through into his final goal instead of letting the ring deceive Frodo.
What does the ring symbolize? • The ring symbolizes the evil and hatred of Middle Earth. • It is an evil thing used to create evil warlords and kings. • It cause many wars in Middle Earth and change the history there too.(LRR Series)
Why cant Frodo continue to live among the hobbits? • After Frodo lets go of the ring, he is emotionally drained. • He goes back to the Shire and recieves so much publicity and was changed so much that he had to move to Elveton
