Ohms Law. Ohm’s Law. Ohm’s law is used to describe the relationship between Voltage (V), Current (I) and Resistance (R). If you know any of two of these values it is possible to calculate the third. Ohm’s law can be arranged in three ways depending on what you want to calculate.

Ohm’s Law • Ohm’s law is used to describe the relationship between Voltage (V), • Current (I) and Resistance (R). • If you know any of two of these values it is possible to calculate the third. • Ohm’s law can be arranged in three ways depending on what you want to calculate.
Ohm’s Law equation • V = I x R • I = V / R • R = V / I • Note: V = Voltage in Volts, I = Current in Amps, R = Resistance in Ohm’s
Example Calculations • Voltage: • I = 10amps R= 1 ohm • We use the equation V = I x R • V = 10 x 1thereforeV = 10 • Current: • V = 12 volts R = 2 ohms • We use the equation I = V/R • I = 12/2thereforeI = 6
Example Calculations • Resistance: • V = 100 volts I = 40 amps • We use the equation R = V/I • R = 100/40 therefore R = 2.5 ohms
