Key Milestones • September 2003 – NOGAP launched featuring incentive grants for graduate-level professionals in social work & psychology • May 2004 – NOGAP expanded to include incentive grants for college-level professionals & education grants for graduate-level studies in social work or psychology • February 2005 – NOGAP administration transferred to NEMHC
Summary - Incentive Grant • Incentive grant component operated at 42% success rate • Number of vacancies registered: 66 • Thunder Bay area agencies registered the most vacancies (33%) followed by the Sudbury area (21%) • ECE vacancies accounted for 55% of total registrations followed by MSW positions at 32% • Number of approved incentive grants: 28 • North Bay agencies filled 75% of their registered vacancies while the Timmins area had the greatest difficulty recruiting professionals with a mere 22% success rate • Psychology vacancies had the highest success rate at 80% while MSW vacancies were the most difficult to fill with a success rate of 24% • 71% of filled vacancies were in urban centres • There were no requests for Community Assessment Visits

Incentive Grant Recipients by Employment Agency • Once an agency becomes aware of the program, they usually register positions on a regular basis • Several approved applicants are employed by the same agency
Summary – Education Grants • Employees of MCSS/MCYS agencies represent 59% of education grant recipients • Applicants from the Thunder Bay area represent 46% of total approvals • Have not had to implement priority system to date • There is an even split between urban and rural recipients (52% and 48% respectively) • Applicants are enrolled in universities across Canada and the US • 29% of applicants are pursuing their studies in Northern Ontario (Lakehead & Laurentian)
Education Grants • Number of applications received: 38 • Approved: 34 (89%) • Denied: 4 (11%) – did not meet eligibility criteria *Other Social Service Master’s Degrees
