Guild Organizational Structure • Parent/volunteer roles: • Guildmaster, • Assistant Guildmaster • Master of Documentation • Volunteer coordinator • Quartermaster • Fundraising leader • Skill badge leaders (1/badge) • Lots of helpers! • Scout positions: • Scout leader • Crew/badge leaders • Quartermaster? • Documentation chief These positions get elected after the hackerling circuit
Typical meeting • Roll call • Announcements • open source – share what you have done/made in the last week • Icebreaker/simple activity • Split into crews and work on badges or a group project • Refreshments • Scouts all say what they learned, and what they could do to improve it • Closing – Core value lesson • Go home
2 Month agenda • Pre-teach a few basics • Hackerling circuit • (this can actually take up to 3 months) • Pick goals, identify skills needed • Split into crews based on interest, skill - start on skill badges
6 Month Agenda • Working in crews towards a skill/project goal • Field trips to places that relate to learning goals • Guild/crew project
Who should join? • Age/skill • 8-14 years • Specific making knowledge is not required • Thirst for knowledge is required • Participation • Must commit to go to meetings.
Monetary Costs • Registration fee $75 • Covers Hackerling circuit, tool belt, other materials • After the hackerling circuit is complete, there is a monthly fee to cover: • Materials for projects $10-$20 • Insurance ?? • Possibly renting a space $10-$50 • Field trips (Depends on location)
