1 Peter 2:11-12 11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, 12having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.
Realizing the motivation and impact of good works as a Christian
Titus 3:8- 8This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men. • Titus 3:14- 14And let our people also learn to maintain good works, to meet urgent needs, that they may not be unfruitful.
Why do you do what you do as a Christian? • To go to heaven? • To not go to hell? • To be seen of men? • To be seen by God? • To bear fruit? • To lay up treasure in heaven? Why? • To glorify God? • To please God? • Because you owe the Lord? • Because you love the Lord? • Because men hate you? • Because you love men?
