Design Goal • S-Band Patch Antenna
Antenna Polarization(1) • What is the Antenna Polarization • The polarization of an antenna is the direction of the electric field (E-plane) of the radio wave with respect to the Earth's surface and is determined by the physical structure of the antenna and by its direction. Vertical Polarization LH Circular Polarization Horizontal Polarization RH Circular Polarization
Antenna Polarization(2) • Why use the CP antenna for CINEMA? • Space communication has forced the use of Circular polarization. The fundamental advantage of circular polarization is that all reflections change the direction of polarization, precluding the usual addition or subtraction of main and reflected signals. Therefore there is far less fading and flutter when circular polarization is used at each end of the link.
