What's the difference between these two?
Surface area to volume ratio. • Multi cellular – cannot take in oxygen through their surface unless they are on the outside. • Single celled – can take in molecules, such as oxygen through their surface.

Different types of circulatory system Open: blood flows within the body cavities Closed: blood contained in blood vessels Single: (blood passes only once through the heart in one revolution). Double: (blood passes twice through the heart in one revolution).
Closed Circulatory Systems Closed system: • Blood is always confined to the vessels – it never enters the body cavity. • A separate fluid, tissue fluid, bathes the tissues. • This allows the heart to pump blood faster and at higher pressure • e.g. mammals
Single and Double Circulatory Systems Which is which and why? In fish, there is only one circuit (blood passes only once through the heart in one revolution). Blood is oxygenated before being delivered to the rest of the body then back to the heart – only one pumping motion does this. In mammals, there are two circuits (blood passes twice through the heart in one revolution). Blood is oxygenated in the pulmonary circulation before being delivered back to the heart to be pumped again to the rest of the body then back to the heart.
