Needs Assessment - Statewide • Took place from November 2006 thru February 2007 • Consisted of a web-based survey, interviews with the Executive Director, Clinical Director or Shelter Manager and, where possible, a staff focus group. • All agencies completed at least some of the assessment • 97% web surveys • 98% of the EDs • 95% of CD or SM • 71% focus groups

  14. The MH/SA county providers have been in the community since 1901. They don’t do anything new and different; they don’t see that domestic violence victims need help and think it is their fault if they are staying in the relationship. They carry a lot of myth and misinformation. – Executive Director

  15. Prioritized TAT Recommendations • Training on integrated trauma-informed services and treatment • Staff training on mental health signs and symptoms • Staff training on substance abuse signs and symptoms • Development of model policies and procedures for screening, admitting and tracking MH/SA women. • Updated regional inventories of MH/SA resources available for women with or without children. • Cross training with county mental/behavioral health departments • Specialized training for crisis hotline workers • Onsite and customized cultural competency training and technical assistance
