  3. Newtown model inactive area Time: An initial SS stress period Transient with 144 stress periods Begin: 7/25/07 midnight End: 8/7/2007 midnight Hourly stress period length at start (when pumps turned on) and end (pumps turned off) of test. After start, lengths vary from 4 hours to 8 hours to 4 hours. Includes about 1.5 days of no pumping before test and 4 days of no-pumping recovery time. 3 DRAFT—SUBJECT TO CHANGE

  4. Newtown model Streams: 39 segments Used average conductance from original model (3,369 ft2/d) as a constant and also proportioned it by cell size. inactive area Constant head cells: Head in cell equals land surface minus 10 feet 4 DRAFT—SUBJECT TO CHANGE

  5. Newtown model Hydraulic conductivity: Used surface materials shape file and set sand and gravel = 60 ft/d: all else = 15 ft/d. Will use updated K zone polygon map when available. 5 DRAFT—SUBJECT TO CHANGE

  6. Newtown model Wells: Used variable pumping rates during test from report. Well 3 = average 113 gpm or 21,753 ft3/d Well 7 = average 460 gpm or 88,550 ft3/d Well 3 Well 7 6 DRAFT—SUBJECT TO CHANGE

  19. Approach for contributing area delineation: Hoping to use box models to match pumping tests. Incorporate aquifer properties from box model in regional model. Then use regional model to delineate contributing areas. If not, then use hydraulic properties from box model match of pump tests in developing regional model, then go back to box models and use fluxes from regional model at the box model boundaries, then delineate contributing areas with the box models. 19 DRAFT—SUBJECT TO CHANGE

  20. Newtown model Preliminary contributing areas: Steady state model North wells registered rate: well 3; 270 gpm = 51,975 ft3/d well 7; 467 gpm = 89,898 ft3/d Recharge rate: 24 in/yr = 0.0054790 ft/d for sand and gravel Still to try: 24 in/yr for sand and gravel and 8 in/yr for till 20 DRAFT—SUBJECT TO CHANGE

  21. Newtown model Preliminary contributing areas: Steady state model Recharge rate: 24 in/yr Well 3 goes dry at rates above 22,000 ft3/d 21 DRAFT—SUBJECT TO CHANGE

  22. Newtown model Recharge rate: 24 in/yr = 0.0054790 ft/d Check on pumping rate versus recharge rate and resulting contributing area: Well 7 Well 3 Rate in model: 89,898 ft3/d 22,000 ft3/d Resulting polygon contributing area: 16,290,000 ft2 3,970,000 ft2 Calculated pumping rate (contributing area * recharge rate): 89,253 ft3/d 21,752 ft3/d 22 DRAFT—SUBJECT TO CHANGE

  23. Newtown model Still need (for whole basin): -Hydraulic conductivity zone polygons -Latest recharge zone polygons -Finalize approach for delineation of contributing areas 23 DRAFT—SUBJECT TO CHANGE
