B.2 Special English Course for PAS • The main theme of the course is international networking. On the final day of the course each student will be required to give a 1 to 2 minute networking pitchincluding information about themselves, their department and Carlos III University. Students will be filmed and receive feedback.
B.2 Special English Course for PAS • Building around the international networking theme and final task, students will study, review and practice: • University related vocabulary • Intonation and pronunciation • Improving accuracy and tone in emails • Communication via telephone • Social English • Listening comprehension including understanding different accents • Attention will be paid to the correction of fossilized errors. • Homework will be required.
B.2 Special English Course for PAS Methodology • The course material and activities have been carefully selected and created to emphasize practical input and skills relevant to the use of English by administrative personnel at Carlos III University. • In this very interactive, participative course interaction in pairs and groups will be encouraged in order to maximize active use of English. • Note: Students are requested to turn their cell phones off during class activities.
B.2 Special English Course for PAS Policy: Error Correction The role of the Teachers and Language Assistants in this course is to facilitate and encourage conversation and communication. As a general rule she / he will make note of important or common errors and review them with the whole class at the end of different sessions. However, she / he will not interrupt communication to correct you.
B.2 Special English Course for PAS EVALUATION Officialparticipationcertificate 90% attendance is required in order to obtain an official certificate of participation from the Department of Human Resources, UC3M. Gradingsystem • Attendance– 60% attendance is required in order to receive a passing grade. • Final grades - Final grades will be based on a combination of 50% - continuous evaluation, and 50% - tests; exams; practical assignments.
