RESUME • Good summary of the energy policies in Europe and the UK, especially with respect to Power Generation • Better understanding of the UK Energy White Paper Consultation Process and its basis • Lively Panel Session around APGTF members views on the issues associated with the APGTF submission to the DTI Consultation Process

MAJOR OUTCOMES • Key Points • impact of policy on service and equipment supply industry and employment needs to be included • need for greater and better co-ordinated Energy RTDD in UK with long term commitment and in a Global/European context • Carbon Management will be a critical aspect as Fossil PG will be a key element in the mix • successful deployment of technology is essential with a need for appropriately targeted measures to encourage take-up in a risk adverse marketplace • energy efficiency and improved use of energy remains an important issue; essential to restore confidence in CHP

  4. FOLLOW UP ACTIONS • APGTF Response • broad agreement of main points and content • incorporation of views from the Forum today • submission of the response document by13/Sept/02 • Dissemination • final draft will be sent to all attendees of Forum • posted on the APGTF web site www.apgtf-uk.com
