Passing • Right foot forward –heal-to-toe ratio • Hand around fist or fingers over fingers --Thumbs down • Weight on the balls of your feet • Arms in tray position • “Scared cat” to extend platform • Lift to pass the ball • Platform to Target • “Freeze and Hold” after contact
Setting • Ball shaped hands • Triangle or window • Eyes even with elbows • Finger pads – all fingers • Thumbs back • Quick draw • Right foot forward – “Left-Right-Set” • Square shoulders to target • Finish with “ball shaped hands” or “high five”
Hitting • Teach from the feet up • Left-Right-Left Slow-Quick-Quick (opp. For lefties) • Thumbs up to ceiling on backswing • “High T” - show off your armpit • Elbow back, not elbow up • High guide arm • “Arrow, elbows, snap”
Serving – Float Serve • Start in a balanced position • Toss- Just a little bit higher than reach. No spin. • Step into ball. Transfer weight • Contact -Think of it as giving someone a high five • Heal of hand • Firm wrist • Finish with hand facing target • “Pop & Stop”
Blocking • Start with arms ~90 degrees to your sides. Palms towards net (chin height) • Jumping should be timed with opposing player • Front the ball • Squeeze ears with shoulders • Fingers are spread apart – Thumbs up • Block within shoulders *Blocking is the first line of defense. • Blocking schemes will adjust will according to defense
