Habitat They live in Africa. There enviroment is on grassland or praire.
Diet They are not carnivores they don't eat meat. They are herbivores so they eat grassplants.
Family Life They usually have 1 baby. Their gestation is 12-13 months. When they are born they weigh about 80-125lbs. Their stripes are brown and white when they are born. Zebra foals are protected by there mother as well as the head stallion and other mares in there group. They don't need shelter they rest under the shade trees.
Characteristics Temperaments: It depends on the personality but other wise they are calm. Habits and Unique Behavior: They are shy and nervous, They are grazers and mingle with other game. They press back their ears when they are mad. Defenses: It's stripes help it blend in with the rest of the herd. They have a powerful kick that can break the jaw of a lion. Acquiring Food: They eat grass and when the season is dry they may travel 100 miles to find food. They eat near water holes because the grass is fresh. Life span: Then can live up to 25 years. They dust bath on a daily basis.
Social Behavior They roam in a pretty large group.
History They Zebra populated a very large area of Africa. Estimated population was 95,000.

Present Status Today the population of Zebra is around 2500. They are being killed for their skin and meat.
Relationship to Humans Humans control the population of the Zebras. Humans hunted them and now that they have stopped killing them, the popultion is increasing.
