NSW VMM-2 Requests • Information from Vinnie: • VMM-2 chip is to be submitted for production in December • Dedicated run, sharing wafer space with 2 smaller other chips from BNL. • 6 wafers included in the base price 600 – 700 chips without extra cost, expected ready incl. testing and packages ~ May 2014 • NSW groups were asked to communicate their needs • Define number of additional wafers to include in December order (can have a second order if needed later) • Determine the cost of the VMM-2 for the requesting institutes --- it will not be for free S. Zimmermann, MM
NSW VMM-2 Collected Requests • sTGC: 400 chips – sufficient for equipping simultaneously 2 quadruplets in each of the 4 production sites. Need for cosmics testing at CERN ? • USTC: 8 chips for sTGC FEB development • South Africa (Simon Connell): chips for equipping 4 small test MMs. (?) • CERN (Jörg): 1000 chips (MM) • Mainz (Mathias): 40 chips (MM) 1. MMSW (the chamber to be installed on the SW next year): 4096 channels = 64 chips (+32 spares); these will be mounted on 8-chip SRS compatible front-end boards, i.e. 8 boards on the chamber + 4 spares Since we have to install in July 2014, these are highest priority.2. Tests and lab work: 64 chips for 32 SRS compatible2-chip FE boards with Panasonic connectors, compatible with the existing small chambers. This would allows us to equip the 8 T chambers and some other test chambers. Needed for readout tests and DAQ development work in summer 2014.3. Module-0 evaluation: 192 (+ 32) chips = 24 (+ 4) 8-chip FE boards (Zebra) to equip the LM2 module and test it in GIF++4. For module testing at CERN: 512 (+ 64) chips = 64 (+ 8) 8-chip FE boards (Zebra). This is the equivalent of two modules (or one wedge) to be tested in BB5 at a time. => If we think we need more we should discuss how to finance them. They are needed in 2015. S. Zimmermann, MM
