  2. Born in March 6, 1917; Died in January 3, 2005 • His series: “The Spirit” (1940-1952),“A Contract with God” (1978), and “Wonder Man” (mid-1938) • One of the Comic awards was named after him, “Eisner Award.” • Have a partnership with his friend Jerry Iger in WOW magazine. Writer

  3. Blue Beetle was published by a variety of companies since 1939. • First Appeared in Fox Feature Syndicate • Produced titles such as Blue Beetle, Fantastic Comics, and Mystery Men Comics. • Fox Comics eventually closed. Publisher

  4. Charles Wojtkoski • Born on December 6,1921 • Died on June 21st, 1985 • Did art for the Blue Beetle series • Owned the rights to the Blue Beetle • Sold them to make money Artist

  5. Dan Garret • Mom died of a flu epidemic • Dad (police officer) was killed by a criminal • Became a cop to figure out who killed his father • Fought crime under the name the Blue Beetle • A doctor gave him a drug called Vitamin 2x which gave him super powers ORIGIN

Blue Beetle didn’t really fight villains in the golden age. • He was a patrol man and fought crime as the Blue Beetle with superhuman powers after ingesting the vitamin. • He did have a partner on the force who would try to arrest Blue Beetle thinking he was a criminal. • Although in 1941, a villain called the Web appears. • Blue Beetle had a short lived punky sidekick • His name was Sparkington J. Northrup (Sparky) • Wore an abbreviated version of Blue Beetle’s costume. • Later on went into action wearing regular clothes. Sidekick & Major Villains
