About INTERACT One-stop shop to a network of 63 terrestrial field stations Platform for circumarctic research or monitoring projects/programmes Aim - To build capacity for research and monitoring in the Arctic - identifying, understanding, predicting and responding to diverse environmental changes throughout the wide environmental and land-use envelopes of the Arctic. International collaboration Strengthen ties to international programmes and networks to improve coordination and contribute to circumarctic understanding of processes, identification of changes and adaptation. INTERACT partners hosts and participate in international initiatives related to terrestrial monitoring and research - e.g. ABC, IASC, ISAC, SAON, CBMP, AMAP, GLORIA, IPA/CALM, ITEX, ICOS, ANAEE, INCREASE, LifeWatch and SIOS.
INTERACT – work package deliverables INTERACT includes eight work packages: Coordinating activities WP1 Management and Co-ordination WP2 Networking activity: Station Managers Forum WP3 Networking activity: International co-operation WP8 Interactions with stakeholders including outreach Transnational Access activities WP4 Transnational Access (1,8 mio. EURO). Total of 10.433 days in four years, at 18 stations Joint Research Activities WP5 Joint Research Activity: Virtual instrumentation WP6 Joint Research Activity: Up-grading, extending and integrating measurements of feedback mechanisms from terrestrial environments in a changing climate WP7 Joint Research Activity : Data Management Risø, 20 June 2012 Photos by INTERACT station managers and partners

INTERACT II ? - Call out under Horizon 2020 – deadline 15 September. - The call is for a network of terrestrial research stations in the Arctic - Total funding: 10 mio. EURO for 2015-18 - Major suggestions for INTERACT II innovations: • Transnational Access to more stations, incl. stations in Canada, USA and Russia • Data Forum • Red phone • Developingcocepts for up-scaling, incl. drones (remotesensing), field camps, communitybasedmonitoringetc. • Liase with the atmosphericand marine communities
