Completed in the summer term by children who will reach the age of 6 before the end of the school year. • Year 1 pupils. • Year 2 pupils who were not assessed at the end of Year 1. • Year 2 pupils who did not meet the standard at the end of Year 1.
What does the check look like? • 40 words divided into 2 sections. • Each page contains 4 real words or nonsense (alien) words. • Alien words have a creature next to them to save children trying to match the word to their own vocabulary.

Threshold mark • Not available until 30th June. • Last year pass mark was 32/40.
