  6. Developing your coaching skills • Question, challenge and clarify • Support each other • Operate protocols – confidentiality • Use skills - listen attentively; clarify; summarise; ask questions don’t give answers! • Opportunities to work in coaching pairs and trios

  7. In this session we will: • Identify strong aspects of our practice and their impact on the learning of our students • Reflect on areas that we would like to develop • Use coaching skills to decide how to move forward in our practice • Understand the ‘shape’ of a coaching conversation

  8. Outcomes of the session: • Experience coaching – to coach, be coached and observe the conversation • Share positive experiences that have impacted on the learning of our students • Develop some positive next steps that may include ideas to try in lessons

  10. Work in coaching trios to share positive experiences that have impacted on the learning of your students Take turns to coach, be coached and observe the conversation At the end of the process review the experience

  12. Work in coaching pairs to explore the challenges in your way Think about what strengths you could bring to the situation. What could you do? What are your options? At the end of the process decide on your first/next step
