CCIA Seed Test Data “Before anything else preparation is the key to success.” Mary Anne Voorhees Introduction Quality 2007 Data – Most recent complete year of data Quality Management Plan
Quality Management Philosophy • CCIA is a Quality Organization – QA for California Agriculture • TQM, The HP Way, ISO 9000, CH2M Hill • Quality Definitions • Features of products or services which meet customer needs and thereby provide customer satisfaction. • Freedom from deficiencies, freedom from errors that require doing work over again or that result in customer dissatisfaction. • Fitness for use. • Exceeding customer expectations.
Compliance • When the CCIA lab closed there was a 10% audit requirement • OECD • OECD SEED SCHEMES Appendix 8 – At least 5 % of the seed lots entered for official certification shall be check-tested by official seed testing. • OECD every lot needs a test sampled and tested from that lot. • Testing for varietal purity is a concern.
Audit Data • 2003 Audit slips for 62 audits • 48 with full data – 18 different crops • 4 failed • 3 Alfalfa with Dodder • 1 Well Ladino Clover with excess weeds • Misc of interest… • 1 Blanca Grande Wheat with red berry 20/lb • 2003 - 3% of tests were audited. • 2004 - less • 2005 - less • Response to failure – nothing.
