Aftertreatment Lamps- Level 1 • DPF Lamp • On solid at Level 1 soot loading • Label says : • “Exhaust filter regeneration required.” • “Drive on highway at highway speeds OR start Parked Regeneration to prevent loss of engine power.”
Aftertreatment Lamps- Level 2 • DPF Lamp • Flashes at Level 2 soot loading • Label says: • “Exhaust filter full” • “Pull vehicle safely off roadway and start Parked Regeneration to prevent loss of engine power.”
Aftertreatment Lamps- Level 3 • Amber Warning Lamp is on • Audible alarm is on • Warn Engine text on LCD • DPF Lamp Flashes • Label says: • “Exhaust filter full. Engine performance LIMITED.” • “Pull vehicle safely off roadway and start Parked Regeneration to prevent engine stopping.”
Aftertreatment Lamps- Level 4 Stop Engine Lamp is on • DPF Lamp is off • If not preceded by level 1, 2, & 3 warnings, it is on for an engine issue other than DPF plugging • Audible alarm is on • Label says: • “A serious engine problem has occurred. Exhaust filter may be overfull. Engine may SHUTDOWN soon.” • “Pull vehicle safely off roadway, turn on flashers, place warning devices STOP ENGINE. Seek service immediately.
Other emission-related faults Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is on • Will turn on if DPF sensor faults are detected – or for other emission-related faults • Fault codes will be present • Lamp will not flash • May still step through DPF levels with the appropriate warnings • Attempting to perform a stationary regeneration will not change lamp status
HEST Lamp High exhaust system temperature (HEST) Lamp • Turns on if exhaust temps exceed 400˚ C and vehicle speed is less than 5 MPH • Turns off when exhaust is below 370˚ C • High temperatures could be due to passive or active regen. • Label says: • “Exhaust components and exhaust gas are at extremely high temperatures. When stationary, keep away from people and flammable materials, vapors, or structures or STOP ENGINE.
