  2. Project Overview • Project Manager: Colin Buffam • Delivery of Computer Equipment and Internet Connectivity to IPOs without Internet access and access to the WIPONET Basic Services for the secure exchange of information between all IPOs

  3. Project Overview (cont.) • Budget for 2002-03: 29,260kCHF • Expected Training and Deployment Completion Date 31 December 2003 • User Community - Intellectual Property Offices

  5. Deployment Status • Potential number of IPOs eligible to receive WIPO’s assistance is 138. Replies still not received concerning 28 Offices • Total number of IPOs surveyed to-date is 100 (awaiting 4 more) of which 53 (awaiting 2 more) have been successfully completed

  6. Deployment Status(cont.) • Waiting for 23 Offices to complete site preparations deemed necessary during the site survey • Following delays with the development of Gold Disk 2 equipment will be shipped to 22 Offices during the next 3 weeks • 164 replies received from 177 IPOs with Internet access

  7. Training Deployment Status • Potential number of IPOs to receive training is 315. • 14 Regional Training Workshops held to-date • Minimum of 12 more to be held in 2003 • Total number of IPOs trained to-date is 140 representing 114 countries

  8. Cooperation Required from Member States • Project to close by year-end! Timely response from Member States needed to help complete deployment within Time and Budget • 28 Offices have yet to reply to WIPO’s offer of Assistance • 23 IPOs have yet to complete their site preparation

  9. The Future • Assisting IPOs to leverage WIPONET in their dealings with their user communities • Stimulate use of WIPONET both in IPOs and WIPO

  10. The Future (cont.) • Re-evaluate stakeholders’ business requirements and WIPONET’s ability to respond to them • Long term sustainability of WIPONET
