“WHO’s” got the news? Ms. Patton’s Newsletter December16-20, 2013 • Parents: • Important Dates: • ** If you would like to donate some snacks/candy for our Christmas Party on Thursday, please let me know by Wednesday. We will be having pizza and snacks! • ** We will have our Polar Express day on Wednesday. Please send your child in their favorite pajamas for our special day. • Our Student of the Week is very important! Please follow • the directions sheet sent home in order to make the week FUN for your child! • We do have two peanut allergies in our classroom so if any food is brought please remember this! Thank you in advance! • ** Parents: Please work with your students at home on writing, Stories, sight words, sentences, etc. Practice, practice, practice! • What are we Learning: • Saxon: • Review all 26 letters that have been learned. • Identify rhyming words, verbs, compound words, and blending sounds in ELA & math texts • Sight words: please practiceour words that have been learned. • ELA/Writing: • Students will recognize tricky words and ask themselves questions to figure out what they mean. • Students will use the illustrations in the book to help them read and understand the story. • Students will match the illustrations to the text they are reading. • Students will recognize and discuss the characters and the experiences that they go through during the book. (Characters, setting, plot (what happens) • Math: • Students will review basic addition, and adding 1 more. Subtraction will be introduced this week. • Students will count 1-20 and by tens to 100. • Students will be introduced to 0s, 1s, and 2s fluency facts.
